This post is going to be shorter than most. I've been on the road for the last week and am making this post from my phone — so I can keep my weekly schedule!
This last week has been a riot, in the best of ways. I visited the RIOT Games headquarters in Los Angeles for the first time. I enjoyed every moment of my business trip: I was blown away by the campus (a gamers paradise!), met old colleagues and friends, learnt a ton in the workshops, and had some fantastic conversations.
It was also a fabulous food week in LA: I had some terrific Taco-truck tacos, went to a Japanese curry house (Cocoichibanya) for the first time (where I was made to get the 10 star spicy order, since I'm from India and can handle it 🔥🥵), and had a delicious Nashville fried chicken sandwich (Bruxies).
And after 4 days of work, the riot continued: From LA, I made a personal trip over the weekend to Phoenix to meet Akshay & Shahana, friends with whom I have no filter, with whom the waters runs deep, with whom serious discussions are fun, and having fun is taken seriously!
We cooked, we shopped, we went on a hike, we ate out, we drank, and we partied, and we talked so much! There was not a moment when I felt any distance between us, despite our living so far away and meeting infrequently. My wife and daughter commented to say, “Akshay and Shahana are the only people you'd go to meet after a work trip instead of coming home immediately”, and it's true — I don't enjoy extending time after work travel, but I'd do this every time to meet these two.
